A new restaurant is expected to open in the downtown space previously occupied by Fancy’s, which has remained vacant since its closure last year.
The property, located at 123 Main Street, was home to Fancy’s for more than a decade before the restaurant ceased operations in September. According to city planning documents, a business license application was submitted earlier this month for a new eatery at the site.
City officials stated that the application is currently under review. “We have received a proposal for a new restaurant at the former Fancy’s location,” said City Planner Maria Lopez. “The review process is underway, and we are working with the applicant to ensure all requirements are met.”
The name and concept of the new restaurant have not yet been disclosed. Representatives for the property owner declined to comment on the details of the proposed business. The developer, Main Street Holdings LLC, confirmed that they are in discussions with potential tenants but did not provide further information.
Fancy’s, known for its Southern-inspired cuisine, closed its doors in September after 12 years in operation. The closure was attributed to financial challenges and shifting dining trends in the downtown area.
Local business leaders have expressed optimism about the prospect of a new restaurant filling the vacant space. “It’s encouraging to see interest in the downtown district,” said Downtown Business Association President Kevin Turner. “A new restaurant could help bring more visitors and activity to the area.”
The city planning department expects to make a decision on the business license application within the next several weeks. If approved, renovations to the space could begin as early as next month.
