Explora Journeys has officially received the Explora III, marking the third ship in its growing fleet. The delivery took place on June 6, 2024, at the Fincantieri shipyard located in Sestri Ponente, Italy.

The handover event was attended by representatives from both Explora Journeys and Fincantieri. Michael Ungerer, CEO of Explora Journeys, expressed appreciation for the partnership with Fincantieri, stating, “We are proud to take delivery of Explora III, which represents another important milestone in our growth strategy.”
Ship Specifications and Features
Explora III measures 248 meters in length and has a gross tonnage of 63,900. The vessel is designed to accommodate up to 922 guests across 461 oceanfront suites. The ship includes 10 dining venues, 12 bars and lounges, four swimming pools, and extensive wellness facilities.
Fleet Expansion Plans
With the addition of Explora III, Explora Journeys now operates three ships. The company has plans to further expand its fleet, with Explora IV scheduled for delivery in 2025 and Explora V and VI expected to join in 2026 and 2027, respectively.
Environmental Initiatives
Explora III is equipped with advanced environmental technologies, including selective catalytic reduction systems, shore power connectivity, and a wastewater treatment plant. The ship is also prepared for future adoption of alternative fuels.
Upcoming Itineraries
Following its delivery, Explora III will embark on its inaugural season in the Mediterranean. The vessel is set to visit destinations such as Barcelona, Rome, and Athens, offering a range of itineraries throughout the region.
