American Express has revealed plans to significantly enlarge its Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport and to introduce a second Centurion Lounge at London-Heathrow Airport.
Newark Centurion Lounge to Triple in Size
The Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport is set for a major expansion, with its footprint expected to increase to three times its current size. The enhanced lounge will cover 17,000 square feet, up from the existing 5,000 square feet. The expansion will add more seating, a new wellness area, and additional food and beverage options.
“We’re excited to expand our Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport, offering more space and amenities for our Card Members,” said Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel. The company has not yet provided a specific opening date for the expanded lounge.
Second Centurion Lounge Planned for London-Heathrow
American Express also announced plans to open a second Centurion Lounge at London-Heathrow Airport. The new lounge will be located in Terminal 3, joining the existing Centurion Lounge in Terminal 3 that opened in 2021. The forthcoming lounge is expected to offer similar amenities, including locally inspired cuisine, a full bar, and dedicated workspaces.
“London is an important destination for our Card Members, and we’re pleased to add another Centurion Lounge at Heathrow to meet growing demand,” Hendley stated. The opening date for the new lounge has not been disclosed.
Centurion Lounge Network Growth
American Express continues to expand its Centurion Lounge network, which currently includes more than 40 locations worldwide. Recent additions include lounges in Denver, New York’s JFK, and London-Heathrow. The company has indicated that further expansions and new locations are planned for the future.
