In April, I embarked on a 10-night cruise around Japan aboard the Ritz-Carlton’s luxury yacht, Evrima, with my partner. The journey cost $35,000 per person, totaling $70,000 for the two of us. The itinerary included stops at several Japanese cities, such as Kobe, Kochi, Hiroshima, Beppu, and Kagoshima, before concluding in Yokohama.
Accommodations and Amenities
The Evrima features 149 suites, each with a private terrace. Our suite measured 300 square feet and included a king-size bed, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom with double sinks and a rain shower. The suite also offered a minibar stocked with complimentary soft drinks and snacks, as well as twice-daily housekeeping service. Guests could request additional amenities, such as a pillow menu and luxury bath products.
Dining Options
Dining on the Evrima included five restaurants and six bars. The main dining venue, The Evrima Room, served breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a rotating menu. Other options included Talaat Nam, which offered Southeast Asian cuisine, and S.E.A., a fine-dining restaurant with a tasting menu. Reservations were required for S.E.A., and there was no additional charge for dining at any of the restaurants. Room service was available 24 hours a day.
Onboard Activities and Entertainment
The ship provided a range of activities, including daily fitness classes, a spa, and an infinity pool. There was also a marina platform for water sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding, weather permitting. Evening entertainment included live music performances and themed events. The Evrima’s staff-to-guest ratio was nearly one-to-one, ensuring personalized service throughout the voyage.
Excursions and Shore Experiences
At each port, guests could choose from a selection of complimentary excursions, such as guided city tours, cultural experiences, and visits to local landmarks. Some excursions, like private car tours or specialty experiences, required an additional fee. In Hiroshima, we visited the Peace Memorial Park, while in Beppu, we explored the city’s hot springs. The cruise line arranged all transportation and provided local guides for each tour.
Overall Impressions
The Ritz-Carlton Evrima cruise through Japan offered a high level of comfort, personalized service, and a variety of dining and activity options. The cost of $35,000 per person covered accommodations, meals, most beverages, gratuities, and many excursions. Additional expenses included specialty excursions, spa treatments, and premium alcoholic beverages.
