Six Senses, a luxury hospitality brand under IHG Hotels & Resorts, has announced plans to open a new resort in the Utah desert, marking a significant step in IHG’s strategy to strengthen its luxury offerings across the Americas.
New Resort to Open in Utah’s Canyon Country
The upcoming Six Senses resort will be located in the Canyon Point region of southern Utah. The property is set to feature 50 guest accommodations, including suites and standalone villas, designed to blend with the surrounding landscape. The resort will also offer a signature Six Senses Spa, wellness programming, and a range of dining options.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024, with the opening anticipated in 2026. The project is being developed in partnership with Pegasus Capital Advisors, which has previously collaborated with Six Senses on other properties.
IHG’s Luxury Expansion in the Americas
The Utah project is part of IHG’s broader initiative to grow its luxury portfolio in the Americas. In recent years, IHG has introduced several high-end brands to the region, including Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Regent Hotels & Resorts, and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. Six Senses, acquired by IHG in 2019, has been central to this expansion strategy.
“The Americas represent a key growth market for our luxury brands,” said Julienne Smith, Chief Development Officer, Americas, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “The addition of Six Senses in Utah underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences in unique destinations.”
Focus on Wellness and Sustainability
Six Senses is recognized for its focus on wellness, sustainability, and immersive guest experiences. The new Utah resort will incorporate environmentally conscious design and operations, according to the company. Plans include the use of locally sourced materials, energy-efficient systems, and initiatives to support the local community.
“We are excited to bring the Six Senses philosophy to the dramatic landscapes of southern Utah,” said Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses. “Our goal is to create a destination that honors the natural environment while offering transformative experiences for our guests.”
Growing Portfolio in North America
The Utah development will be Six Senses’ second property in the United States, following the opening of Six Senses New York, which is expected to debut in the near future. The brand currently operates resorts and spas in locations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Indian Ocean.
