Quay, one of Australia’s most acclaimed fine dining restaurants, is set to close its doors in February 2024. The restaurant, located in Sydney’s Circular Quay, has been a staple of the Australian culinary scene since its opening in 1988.
Chef Peter Gilmore, who has helmed Quay since 2001, announced the decision to close the restaurant, citing the need for a new direction and the challenges faced in the current dining landscape. Quay has received numerous awards over the years, including three hats from the Good Food Guide and a spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
In a statement, Gilmore expressed gratitude for the support from staff and patrons throughout the years. He emphasized the restaurant’s commitment to innovation and excellence in Australian cuisine, which has made it a beloved destination for both locals and tourists.
The final service at Quay will take place on February 17, 2024. Reservations are highly encouraged as demand is expected to be high during this farewell period.
