A local developer has received final approval to proceed with the construction of a new hotel in Belleair Bluffs, following a unanimous decision by city commissioners on Monday night.
The proposed hotel, which will be located at 100 Bluff View Drive, is set to feature 40 rooms and a rooftop restaurant. The project has been under review for several months, with city officials considering factors such as parking, traffic flow, and the impact on nearby residential areas.
During the meeting, commissioners discussed the developer’s plans to address concerns raised by residents, including the addition of landscaping buffers and adjustments to the building’s height. The developer agreed to implement these modifications as part of the approval process.
“We have worked closely with the city and the community to ensure this project fits within the character of Belleair Bluffs,” the developer stated during the session. “We believe the hotel will be a positive addition to the area and provide new options for visitors.”
The hotel’s approval comes after a series of public hearings and planning board meetings, where residents voiced both support and opposition. Some community members expressed concerns about increased traffic and potential changes to the neighborhood’s atmosphere, while others highlighted the potential economic benefits and increased tourism.
