The property, named The Federal, began operations this week in Brunswick, Maine. The hotel is located at 10 Water Street, occupying a building that dates back to the 19th century. The structure, originally constructed in 1810, has undergone significant renovations to transform it into a modern hospitality venue while preserving its historic character.
The Federal features 30 guest rooms, each designed to blend contemporary amenities with elements reflecting the building’s heritage. The hotel also includes a restaurant, 555 North, which is led by chef Steve Corry. The restaurant aims to provide a menu focused on locally sourced ingredients and regional cuisine.
Brunswick’s downtown, recognized as the oldest in Maine, is known for its historic architecture and vibrant cultural scene. The addition of The Federal is expected to contribute to the area’s appeal for both visitors and residents. The hotel’s location offers convenient access to local shops, galleries, and Bowdoin College.
According to management, the renovation process involved careful restoration of original features, such as exposed brick walls and period woodwork, alongside the introduction of modern comforts.
