The former Neiman Marcus location at Copley Place in Boston will be transformed into a new destination featuring a high-end Italian marketplace, a Greek restaurant, and several luxury retail stores, according to an announcement made on Monday.
Plans for the Redevelopment
Simon Property Group, which owns Copley Place, revealed that the 100,000-square-foot space previously occupied by Neiman Marcus will be redeveloped into Eataly, an Italian food hall, alongside Estiatorio Milos, a Greek restaurant, and a collection of upscale shops. The announcement did not specify which luxury retailers would be included.
“We are excited to introduce these world-class brands to Copley Place and further enhance the shopping and dining experience for our visitors,” said Patrick Peterman, senior vice president of leasing at Simon Property Group, in a statement.
Timeline and Details
Neiman Marcus closed its Copley Place store in January 2024 after operating there for nearly 40 years. The new tenants are expected to open in phases beginning in 2025, though an exact timeline has not been provided.
Eataly, which already operates a location in Boston’s Prudential Center, will bring its marketplace concept featuring Italian restaurants, cafes, and specialty food counters to Copley Place. Estiatorio Milos, known for its Mediterranean seafood offerings, currently has locations in cities such as New York, Miami, and Las Vegas.
Impact on Copley Place
The addition of these new tenants is part of a broader effort to revitalize Copley Place and attract more visitors to the shopping center. Simon Property Group stated that the redevelopment will create a “dynamic and vibrant environment” for shoppers and diners.
