A group of experienced media figures based in Charlotte has purchased Scoop Charlotte, a digital publication focused on lifestyle content for women in the region.
The acquisition was finalized by a team that includes former Charlotte Observer publisher Ann Caulkins, along with media consultant and former Observer executive Rick Thames, and former Observer advertising executive Annette Beck. The transaction was completed on June 1, according to a statement released by the new ownership group.
Scoop Charlotte, which launched in 2011, provides coverage on topics such as fashion, health, dining, and local events. The publication has built a following among women in the Charlotte area over the past decade.
“We are excited to continue Scoop Charlotte’s tradition of delivering engaging and relevant content for women in our community,” Caulkins said in the statement. “Our goal is to build on the foundation that has already been established and to explore new opportunities for growth.”
The publication’s founder, Tracy Curtis, will remain involved during the transition period to support the new owners. Curtis expressed confidence in the new leadership, stating, “I am thrilled to see Scoop Charlotte in the hands of people who are passionate about local journalism and who understand the needs of our audience.”
The new owners indicated that readers and advertisers should expect continuity in Scoop Charlotte’s editorial direction, with plans to expand coverage and introduce new features in the coming months.
