A luxury hotel brand has chosen an uptown Charlotte office building as the site for its first property in the city.
The Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants group will open a new hotel in the 23-story 300 South Tryon office tower, located at the intersection of South Tryon and Third streets. This marks Kimpton’s initial venture into the Charlotte market.
The planned hotel will occupy the lower floors of the building, which is owned by Spectrum Properties and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers. The office tower, which opened in 2017, is situated near Romare Bearden Park and Truist Field.
According to a statement from Kimpton, the hotel will feature 216 guest rooms, a rooftop bar, and a ground-floor restaurant. The company anticipates opening the hotel in 2025.
“Charlotte has been on our radar for some time, and we’re excited to bring our unique approach to hospitality to the city,” said Mike DeFrino, CEO of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
Kimpton operates more than 75 hotels and 85 restaurants, bars, and lounges across the United States and internationally. The company is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts.
The addition of Kimpton to uptown Charlotte is expected to enhance the area’s hospitality offerings, which have expanded in recent years with several new hotel developments.
