Emirates has revealed what it describes as the world’s first fully electric premium economy seat, marking a significant development in airline seating technology. The announcement was made during the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany, where the airline showcased its new seating innovation.

The new premium economy seat, designed by Emirates in collaboration with Recaro Aircraft Seating, features a fully electric control system. This technology allows passengers to adjust their seat positions with greater precision compared to traditional mechanical systems. The seat also includes enhancements such as an adjustable headrest, a deeper recline, and improved leg support.
Features and Passenger Experience
According to Emirates, the electric premium economy seat offers passengers increased comfort and convenience. The seat is equipped with a six-way adjustable headrest, a calf rest with an extended range of motion, and a deeper recline function. Passengers will also have access to USB charging ports and a personal reading light.
Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer, stated, “We are proud to introduce this new seat, which represents a leap forward in comfort and technology for our premium economy customers.” He added that the airline is committed to investing in passenger experience and innovation.

The new electric premium economy seat is set to debut on Emirates’ Airbus A350 aircraft, which are scheduled for delivery starting in August 2024. Emirates plans to install the seats on its upcoming fleet of A350s, with further expansion to other aircraft models under consideration.
