Oceania Floats Out First Ship in New Sonata Class

Oceania Cruises has marked a significant milestone with the float out of its inaugural Sonata class ship at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy. The vessel, named Allura, is scheduled to enter service in 2025, expanding the company’s fleet and introducing a new class of ships.

The float out ceremony for Allura took place at Fincantieri’s Genoa facility, where the ship’s hull touched water for the first time. This event signifies the completion of the ship’s exterior construction, with interior work now set to continue ahead of its delivery.

Sonata Class to Enhance Fleet Capacity

Allura represents the first vessel in Oceania’s Sonata class, which is designed to offer enhanced guest experiences and increased capacity. The ship will accommodate approximately 1,200 guests and feature a crew of 800, maintaining the line’s guest-to-crew ratio.

Scheduled Debut and Future Plans

Allura is expected to begin operations in 2025, with itineraries planned across Europe and North America. The vessel will be joined by a sister ship, also under construction at Fincantieri, as part of Oceania’s ongoing fleet expansion strategy.
