Oceania Cruises has officially started construction on its newest ship, Oceania Sonata, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The vessel is scheduled to join the fleet in 2026, becoming the eighth ship operated by the cruise line.
New Suite Designs and Enhanced Accommodations
The Oceania Sonata will introduce a range of new suite categories, including the Owner’s Suites, Vista Suites, Oceania Suites, and Penthouse Suites. According to Oceania Cruises, the Owner’s Suites will be furnished exclusively with Ralph Lauren Home collections, while the Vista and Oceania Suites will offer expanded living spaces and updated amenities.
All staterooms and suites on the ship will feature private verandas, with the Penthouse Suites providing additional space and upgraded bathrooms. The cruise line has stated that the new suite designs are intended to offer guests more comfort and luxury during their voyages.
Expanded Culinary Offerings
Oceania Sonata will feature a variety of dining venues, including the Grand Dining Room, Toscana, Polo Grill, and Red Ginger. The ship will also introduce Ember, a new restaurant concept that will serve American cuisine, as well as Aquamar Kitchen, which will focus on wellness-inspired dishes.
In addition to these venues, guests will have access to casual dining options such as Waves Grill and Baristas. The company has indicated that the culinary program on Oceania Sonata will continue the brand’s emphasis on gourmet experiences at sea.
Ship Specifications and Itinerary Plans
The Oceania Sonata is being constructed by Fincantieri and will have a gross tonnage of approximately 67,000. The ship is designed to accommodate 1,200 guests and will be staffed by 800 crew members, maintaining a guest-to-crew ratio consistent with other ships in the fleet.
Oceania Cruises has announced that the ship’s inaugural season will include itineraries in Europe and North America, with specific voyage details to be released at a later date.
