Preferred Hotels & Resorts has unveiled its inaugural Luxury Travel Report 2025, offering a comprehensive look into the evolving preferences of affluent travelers. Developed in collaboration with The Harris Poll, the report surveyed over 500 U.S.-based luxury travelers, each with a household income exceeding $250,000, assets over $1 million, and annual leisure travel expenditures of at least $10,000.
Key Insights from the Report:
Rejection of Homogeneity in Luxury Travel
A significant 70% of respondents believe modern luxury hotels have become too standardized, leading to a phenomenon termed the “beige-ification” of travel. These travelers are seeking unique, authentic experiences that reflect the individuality of destinations.
Desire for Transformative Experiences
Luxury is increasingly associated with personal growth and meaningful experiences. Over 80% of participants value insider connections that provide access to exclusive, transformative moments during their travels.
Importance of Curated Journeys
An overwhelming 90% of luxury travelers appreciate journeys that are both effortless and meticulously planned. Additionally, 84% place greater trust in personalized recommendations from travel advisors over algorithm-driven suggestions.
Emphasis on Heritage and Cultural Immersion
More than 90% of respondents seek travel experiences that immerse them in the history and culture of a destination. With 71% planning multi-generational trips in 2025, there’s a growing demand for accommodations that facilitate familial connections and cultural exploration.
Value of Loyalty Programs
In an era of economic uncertainty, 82% of luxury travelers consider loyalty programs crucial for ensuring consistent quality. Nearly two-thirds are inclined to revisit hotels where they’ve had exceptional past experiences, highlighting the importance of personalized service and trust.
Lindsey Ueberroth, CEO of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, commented on the findings: “The Luxury Travel Report deepens our understanding of the ever-evolving desires of luxury travelers, reinforcing our commitment to authenticity and unique, curated experiences across our global portfolio.”
