A passenger aircraft that was previously grounded in India has been repurposed as a luxury dining establishment, offering a unique experience for visitors in the city of Ludhiana, Punjab.
Aircraft Converted into Dining Venue
The retired Airbus A320, which once operated for an airline, now serves as the setting for a restaurant named “Hawai Adda.” The aircraft has been stationed at the Verka Milk Bar complex in Ludhiana, where it has been modified to accommodate diners. The transformation involved significant interior renovations, including the removal of seats and the installation of tables and chairs to create a comfortable dining area.
Unique Experience for Guests
According to the restaurant’s management, the establishment can seat up to 72 guests at a time. The menu features a range of vegetarian dishes, catering to local preferences. The restaurant aims to provide patrons with the sensation of dining aboard an aircraft, without leaving the ground.
Renovation and Regulatory Compliance
The conversion process required approval from local authorities, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The aircraft’s wings were detached to facilitate transportation to the site, and modifications were made to meet safety and accessibility standards. The restaurant’s operators stated that all necessary permits were obtained prior to opening.
Public Reception
Since its inauguration, the restaurant has attracted attention from local residents and visitors, many of whom are drawn by the novelty of dining inside an airplane. Management reports that the establishment has received positive feedback regarding both its ambiance and menu offerings.
