Chicago is preparing to welcome a variety of new dining establishments during the summer of 2025, with several notable chefs and restaurant groups announcing plans to open locations throughout the city. These upcoming venues are expected to offer a range of cuisines and dining experiences, contributing to the city’s reputation as a culinary destination.
Upcoming Openings Across the City
Among the anticipated arrivals is a new venture from chef Maria Gonzalez, who is set to debut her Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, Elia, in the West Loop. Scheduled to open in July 2025, Elia will feature a menu focused on seasonal produce and traditional Mediterranean flavors. In River North, the team behind the acclaimed steakhouse, The Butcher’s Table, plans to launch a seafood-focused concept called Harbor & Vine. The restaurant is expected to open its doors in August 2025, offering a selection of fresh seafood dishes and an extensive wine list. Co-owner James Lee commented, “Harbor & Vine will provide a unique seafood experience in the heart of Chicago.”
Neighborhood Additions and Diverse Cuisines
Several neighborhoods will see new additions, including a Korean barbecue restaurant, Seoul Fire, opening in Logan Square. Chef Eunji Park, known for her modern approach to Korean cuisine, will lead the kitchen. The restaurant is set to begin service in late June 2025, featuring interactive grills at each table and a menu highlighting both classic and contemporary Korean dishes.
Meanwhile, Hyde Park will welcome a new Italian eatery, Trattoria Verde, from restaurateur Marco Rossi. The restaurant, scheduled for a July 2025 opening, will offer handmade pastas and wood-fired pizzas. Rossi shared, “We want to create a warm, inviting space where guests can enjoy authentic Italian food.”
Expansion of Established Brands
Some well-known Chicago restaurant groups are also expanding. The owners of the popular brunch spot Sunny Side Café will open a second location in Lincoln Park. The new outpost is expected to open in August 2025, featuring the same menu of breakfast classics and specialty coffee drinks that have made the original a neighborhood favorite.
Additionally, the team behind the vegan restaurant Green Table is planning a new concept, Plant & Grain, in Wicker Park. The restaurant, set to open in July 2025, will focus on plant-based grain bowls and salads, catering to the growing demand for vegetarian and vegan options in the city.
