The Corinthia Rome, a newly opened luxury hotel, is drawing attention from high-end travelers for its location in a restored 18th-century palazzo near the Pantheon. The property, which began welcoming guests in May, is the latest addition to the Corinthia Hotels portfolio and marks the brand’s first presence in Italy.
Restoration of an Iconic Landmark
The hotel is situated in the former seat of the Bank of Italy, a building that dates back to the 1700s. The restoration project, led by architect Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, preserved the original neoclassical façade and many interior features. The design team incorporated contemporary elements while maintaining the building’s historic character.
Corinthia Rome offers 60 rooms and suites, each designed with custom furnishings and Italian marble. Many accommodations provide views of Rome’s historic center, including the nearby Pantheon and Piazza Navona.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel features a signature restaurant, led by chef Alfio Ghezzi, which serves modern Italian cuisine. Guests can also enjoy a rooftop terrace, a spa, and a fitness center. The property’s central location allows for easy access to Rome’s major attractions, including the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.
According to Corinthia Hotels CEO Simon Naudi, “Rome is a city of timeless beauty, and we are honored to bring Corinthia’s hospitality to such an iconic destination.”
Growing Interest Among Luxury Travelers
Since its opening, Corinthia Rome has generated significant interest among luxury travelers seeking accommodations in the heart of the city. The hotel’s blend of historic architecture and modern amenities has contributed to its early popularity.
