A Columbia restaurant that describes itself as a “luxury dining” establishment has received approval to serve alcohol following a dispute that lasted over a year. A judge has also issued a ruling barring the former owner from involvement with the business.
Alcohol License Approved After Extended Legal Battle
The restaurant, located in Columbia, was granted permission to sell alcoholic beverages after a legal process that spanned more than twelve months. The decision came after the South Carolina Administrative Law Court reviewed the case and issued its ruling last week.
According to court documents, the restaurant’s application for an alcohol license was initially challenged by the previous owner, who raised concerns regarding the suitability of the new management. The dispute centered on whether the establishment met the necessary requirements to obtain the license under state law.
Judge Issues Ban on Former Owner
In addition to granting the alcohol license, the judge’s order specifically prohibits the former owner from participating in the restaurant’s operations. The court found that the previous owner’s continued involvement would not be in the best interest of the business or the community.
The judge’s decision stated, “The former owner is hereby enjoined from any further involvement or interference with the restaurant’s management or licensing.”
Restaurant’s Future Operations
With the alcohol license now approved, the restaurant is expected to expand its offerings to include a selection of beer, wine, and spirits. The management has indicated plans to enhance the dining experience for patrons, though no specific changes have been announced.
The ruling concludes a lengthy period of uncertainty for the restaurant, which had operated without an alcohol license since the dispute began. The establishment’s representatives have not commented publicly on the outcome.
