A chef recognized with a Michelin star and the proprietors of a North Carolina-based Indian restaurant group have collaborated to introduce a new culinary venture in the Triangle region.
Partnership Brings New Restaurant to Chapel Hill
Chef Ryan Ratino, who has earned a Michelin star, is joining forces with the team behind Curry Point Express, an Indian restaurant chain in North Carolina, to open a new establishment in Chapel Hill. The new concept, called Baru, will be located at 140 W. Franklin St., according to a press release issued on Monday.

Baru will feature a menu inspired by global cuisines, with a focus on small plates and craft cocktails. The restaurant is expected to open in late summer 2024. Ratino, who operates the Michelin-starred Bresca in Washington, D.C., will oversee the culinary direction of Baru. The Curry Point Express group will handle operations and management.
