A new boutique hotel is scheduled to open in Santa Rosa on a 12-acre property where the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country Hotel was destroyed during the 2017 Tubbs Fire.
Redevelopment of Fire-Damaged Property
The planned hotel will be located at 3555 Round Barn Blvd., the same address where the former Hilton stood before it was lost in the wildfire. The Tubbs Fire, which swept through the region in October 2017, resulted in the destruction of the 250-room Hilton and significant damage to the surrounding area.
Project Details and Timeline
According to project representatives, the new hotel will feature 120 rooms and is expected to open in late 2025. The development will include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool, and event space. The hotel is being developed by Santa Rosa-based Hugh Futrell Corporation, which acquired the property in 2021.
Community Impact and Future Plans
Hugh Futrell, president of the development company, stated that the project aims to contribute to the ongoing recovery and revitalization of the area following the devastation caused by the Tubbs Fire. The company intends to create a destination that appeals to both visitors and local residents.
