The Palmetto Hotel, located in Charleston, South Carolina, has become a notable addition to the city’s hospitality landscape. The property, which opened its doors in March 2023, is situated on East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district.
With 45 guest rooms, the hotel occupies a restored 19th-century building. The design incorporates original architectural elements, including exposed brick walls and large windows, alongside modern amenities. The Palmetto Hotel’s interiors were developed by the New York-based firm Post Company, which aimed to blend Charleston’s traditional style with contemporary comfort.
Guests have access to a lobby bar that offers a selection of cocktails and small plates. The hotel also features a communal lounge area and complimentary bicycles for exploring the city. According to management, the property is intended to appeal to both leisure and business travelers seeking an immersive Charleston experience.
General Manager Michael Tall stated, “We wanted to create a space that reflects the spirit of Charleston while providing a welcoming environment for visitors from around the world.”
The Palmetto Hotel is part of a broader trend of boutique accommodations opening in Charleston. The city’s tourism sector has seen steady growth, with over 7 million visitors reported in 2022, according to the Charleston Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
