A restaurant located on the Las Vegas Strip has agreed to pay $2 million to resolve a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, according to federal authorities.
Details of the Settlement
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced on Thursday that the settlement was reached with the owners of Mon Ami Gabi, a French restaurant situated at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The EEOC stated that the lawsuit was filed after multiple female employees reported ongoing sexual harassment by managers and coworkers.
Allegations and Legal Proceedings
The EEOC’s complaint alleged that female staff members at Mon Ami Gabi were subjected to repeated unwanted sexual advances, inappropriate comments, and physical touching. The agency also claimed that management failed to take adequate steps to address the complaints, which led to a hostile work environment.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Nevada. The EEOC said that the restaurant’s owners denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the matter.
Terms of the Agreement
Under the terms of the settlement, the restaurant will pay $2 million to former and current employees who were affected by the alleged harassment. In addition to the monetary payment, Mon Ami Gabi has agreed to implement new policies and training programs aimed at preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.
The EEOC will monitor the restaurant’s compliance with the agreement for a period of three years. The agency emphasized that the settlement is intended to ensure a safe and respectful work environment for all employees.
Statements from the Parties
EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows stated, “No one should have to endure sexual harassment in the workplace. This settlement demonstrates the EEOC’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights.”
Representatives for Mon Ami Gabi and its parent company, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the settlement.
