Tuan Luu and Uyen Vu, previously known for their work at Luxury Spa on Balboa Street, have opened a new venture called Ghien Banh Mi & Cafe. The establishment is located at 3606 Balboa Street in San Francisco’s Richmond District.
The new cafe specializes in Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, coffee, and a variety of baked goods. According to Luu and Vu, the menu features traditional Vietnamese flavors, with options including grilled pork, lemongrass chicken, and tofu banh mi. The cafe also offers Vietnamese iced coffee and a selection of pastries.
Ghien Banh Mi & Cafe opened its doors to the public in early June. Luu stated, “We wanted to bring authentic Vietnamese food to the neighborhood and create a welcoming space for everyone.” The owners have emphasized their commitment to using fresh ingredients and providing friendly service.
The cafe operates daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is situated in the same area where Luu and Vu previously managed Luxury Spa. The transition from spa services to the food industry marks a significant change for the duo, who have expressed enthusiasm about their new business.
