Metro Nashville Public Schools Superintendent Adrienne Battle’s district-issued credit card records show charges for a $771 dinner and stays at luxury hotels, according to recently obtained financial documents.
Details of Credit Card Transactions
Financial statements reviewed by local media reveal that Battle’s credit card was used for a $771 meal at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood in Nashville. The dinner took place in March and included several district officials. The documents also indicate that the superintendent’s card was used for accommodations at the Hermitage Hotel and the JW Marriott, both of which are considered upscale hotels in downtown Nashville.
District’s Response to Expenditures
Metro Nashville Public Schools spokesperson Sean Braisted stated that the dinner at Eddie V’s was a business meeting involving district leadership. According to Braisted, the meal was attended by Battle and other senior staff members, and the expenses were in line with the district’s policies for official business functions.
Regarding the hotel stays, Braisted explained that the Hermitage Hotel and JW Marriott were selected due to their proximity to events attended by the superintendent. He added that the use of these hotels was consistent with district guidelines for travel and lodging.
Policy and Oversight
District policy requires that expenses charged to district-issued credit cards must be related to official business and comply with established spending limits. All transactions are subject to review by the district’s finance department. The school board is responsible for overseeing the superintendent’s expenditures and ensuring adherence to district regulations.
Ongoing Review
Metro Nashville Public Schools officials have stated that all superintendent credit card transactions are routinely audited. The district has not announced any changes to its expense policies following the release of these records.
