Kempinski Hotels has announced the acquisition of the Augustine Hotel Prague, expanding its portfolio in Central Europe. The company confirmed the purchase on Thursday, stating that the property will be integrated into its collection of luxury hotels.
The Augustine Hotel, located in the historic center of Prague, is renowned for its unique setting within a former 13th-century monastery. The hotel features 101 rooms and suites, and is situated near the city’s iconic Charles Bridge and Prague Castle.
Kempinski’s management indicated that the acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in key European destinations. “The Augustine Hotel is a landmark property in Prague, and we are delighted to welcome it to the Kempinski family,” a spokesperson said.
The Augustine Hotel is known for its blend of historical architecture and modern amenities, offering guests access to a private garden, a spa, and a restaurant serving local and international cuisine. The hotel’s design incorporates original features from the monastery, including vaulted ceilings and frescoes.
According to Kempinski, the transition of ownership will be seamless, with all current staff retained and operations continuing as usual. The company plans to introduce its signature service standards while preserving the hotel’s distinctive character.
The acquisition is part of Kempinski’s broader expansion efforts in Europe. The company currently operates more than 80 luxury hotels in 34 countries. The addition of the Augustine Hotel marks Kempinski’s second property in the Czech Republic.
